Cookie Policy
Last updated: 1 September 2026
This page explains what we store on your device and why. It covers cookies and also browser storage, which works the same way from your point of view.
— change your choice at any time.
Do we ask everyone?
We ask for your permission if you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. Until you choose, nothing optional runs: no analytics, no advertising cookies, and no identifier stored on your device. Elsewhere, analytics and advertising run without a banner — but you can still turn them off here, and we will remember that wherever you are.
Necessary
These are needed to run the service. Without them the site cannot remember your cookie choice or take a payment, so they cannot be turned off.
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| vca_consent | Cookie | Remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page. | 180 days |
| vca_pending_alert | Session storage | Holds the alert you are part-way through buying so the confirmation page can show it. Cleared when you finish or close the tab. | Until the tab closes |
| vca_ref, utm source | Session storage | Remembers a referral code or campaign link you arrived through, so the right discount is applied. | Until the tab closes |
| vca_country | Local storage | Remembers the country you chose to monitor, so the prices and the signup link come back to it instead of asking you again. Just the country — nothing that identifies you. | Until you clear your browser storage |
| Stripe (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid) | Cookie | Set by Stripe on the payment step to process your payment and prevent fraud. We never see your card details. | Up to 1 year |
Analytics
These help us see which pages people reach and where the signup process loses them. We do not send your email address or any other identifying detail to an analytics provider, and the analytics data stays on our own systems.
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| vca_vid | Local storage | A random identifier that lets us count one person viewing ten pages separately from ten people viewing one. Not linked to your email address. | Until you clear your browser storage |
| vca_sid | Session storage | Groups the pages you view in a single visit. | Until the tab closes |
Advertising
These let us measure whether the ads we pay for on Google and Meta actually lead to signups. This is the only category that shares information with a third party.
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp, _fbc | Cookie (Meta) | Set by the Meta Pixel so Meta can tell us whether one of our ads led to a signup. Also sent from our server to Meta for the same purpose. | Up to 90 days |
| Google Ads | Cookie (Google) | Lets Google tell us whether one of our ads led to a signup, and stops us paying for ads that do not work. | Up to 2 years |
If you turn this category off, we do not load the Meta Pixel or Google’s advertising tag, we do not read the Meta cookies, and our server does not send a conversion event to Meta. Turning it off does not stop you seeing ads; it only stops us measuring them.
Changing your mind
Use at any time — it is in the footer of every page. Your new choice takes effect immediately. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings, though that will also remove the record of your choice, so we will ask again.
