Independent Work & Holiday visa (subclass 462) cap alerts
Malaysia Work and Holiday visa cap alerts
Australia limits how many first Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visas can be granted to Malaysian passport holders in a program year. While the published status is paused, new applications from Malaysia are not available.
A paused cap may return to open later in the same program year. Nothing is announced in advance β the status page simply changes.
VisaCapAlert checks Malaysia's published cap status every minute and emails you when we detect that change.

- Add an optional WhatsApp notification after payment

How the Malaysia alert works
Create your Malaysia alert
Enter your email address and confirm it with the code we send you. Malaysia is already selected as the country to monitor.
Choose how you pay
Pick the one-time payment or the monthly payment option. Both buy exactly the same Premium monitoring and notifications β only the payment structure differs.
Get notified and act promptly
VisaCapAlert checks Malaysia's published cap status every minute β up to 1,440 checks a day. When the status changes we email you, and after payment you can add and verify a phone number for an optional WhatsApp notification.
We monitor the official Home Affairs country-cap status page. That government page can be delayed by up to 48 hours, so alerts reflect when a status change is published β not necessarily when the underlying decision was made.
You remain responsible for checking the official requirements, confirming your own eligibility, and lodging your application through the official Australian Government process.

Status information comes from the official Department of Home Affairs country-cap status page. That government page can take up to 48 hours to reflect a change, so our alerts tell you when a status change is published β not necessarily when the underlying decision was made. We have no privileged access to government information about Malaysia. View the official Home Affairs cap-status page.

Understanding Malaysia's Work and Holiday visa cap
The annual cap applies to first Work and Holiday subclass 462 visas granted to Malaysian passport holders. Second and third Work and Holiday visas sit outside that first-visa cap.
PAUSED means new applications from Malaysian passport holders are temporarily unavailable, whether to manage volumes or as the annual cap is approached.
A paused cap may return to OPEN in the same program year; a CLOSED cap will not, and waits for caps to reset on 1 July.
VisaCapAlert monitors and reports the published status. We do not set it and we do not see it before it is published.
Why create a Malaysia cap alert?
Malaysia sits only a few hours from Australian time, so a status change published during the Australian working day lands in the middle of yours. That is convenient β if you happen to be looking.
VisaCapAlert removes the 'if'. We check Malaysia's published status every minute and email you when we detect a change, with optional WhatsApp after payment.
An alert does not reserve a place or influence a visa decision. It is prompt notice of a published change, nothing more.
- VisaCapAlert does not reserve or hold a visa place.
- VisaCapAlert does not submit your application.
- VisaCapAlert does not assess your eligibility.
- VisaCapAlert does not provide migration advice.
- VisaCapAlert does not guarantee a visa outcome.

Malaysia cap alerts β frequently asked questions
Malaysia has an annual limit on the number of first Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visas Australia may grant to Malaysian passport holders. The current published figure is shown in the cap status panel on this page, taken directly from the official Department of Home Affairs country-cap page so it stays correct if the official figure changes.
PAUSED means new applications from Malaysian passport holders are temporarily unavailable. A paused cap may return to OPEN later in the same program year, though that is not guaranteed. We monitor the published status and notify you when we detect that it has changed.
We check Malaysia's published cap status every minute and email your confirmed address as soon as we detect that the status has changed. After payment you can also add and verify a phone number for an optional WhatsApp message. What we cannot do is tell you in advance whether or when Malaysia will reopen β that is decided by the official process and we learn of it when it is published.
A CLOSED status means the cap will not reopen during the current program year. If Malaysia changes to CLOSED while your alert is active, we notify you of that status change too β knowing where you stand is the point of the alert. Cap statuses reset for the new program year on 1 July.
That is a real possibility and we will not pretend otherwise: a paused cap may stay paused, or close. Your alert stays active for the monitoring period you paid for and notifies you if and when the published status changes. Because monitoring begins the moment you pay, the payment is not refundable on the basis that the status never changed β if you are unsure, that is worth weighing before you buy.
Yes. The Malaysia alert is priced in Malaysian ringgit and charged by card. The amount shown on the page is exactly what you are charged, with no currency conversion on our side; if your account is held in another currency, your card provider handles that.
Yes β after payment you can add and verify any number that can receive WhatsApp, including a Malaysian one. Email remains the primary channel and is always sent; WhatsApp is an optional extra on top of it.
The alert monitors the published first-visa cap status for Malaysia, which is the status shown on the Home Affairs page. Second and third Work and Holiday visas are not governed by that first-visa cap, so an alert is of limited use if that is what you are applying for.
Premium monitoring for this country is RM12.80 as a single one-time payment, or RM5.70 each month. Both cover the same service and run until 30 June 2027 AEST, and the amount is confirmed before you pay.
You confirm your email with a code and complete payment β a one-time RM12.80, or the monthly option at RM5.70 a month β and your alert is active straight away. After payment you can also add a phone number to be notified by WhatsApp. We then watch your selected country's cap and notify you when its published status changes.
Only in how you pay β the service is identical. One-time is a single RM12.80 payment with no recurring charges β RM38.50 off the RM51.30 full price. Monthly is RM5.70/mo while the alert is active, ending automatically on 30 June 2027 AEST.
Both options include every-minute checks, email alerts and optional WhatsApp notifications, and both stay active until 30 June 2027 AEST.
You can cancel the monthly option anytime at visacapalert.com/cancel-subscription/; no future payments are processed after cancellation, months already charged aren't refunded, and monitoring stops at that point. If a monthly payment fails, you have 7 days to update your card before the alert is cancelled.
On 1 July AEST, visa cap statuses reset, so you'll need to register again to keep tracking a country in the new cap period.
