How often we check Papua New Guinea's cap:⚑ Every minute β€” 1,440 checks per day

We monitor the official Home Affairs country-cap status page. That government page can be delayed by up to 48 hours, so alerts reflect when a status change is published β€” not necessarily when the underlying decision was made.

You remain responsible for checking the official requirements, confirming your own eligibility, and lodging your application through the official Australian Government process.

Status information comes from the official Department of Home Affairs country-cap status page. That government page can take up to 48 hours to reflect a change, so our alerts tell you when a status change is published β€” not necessarily when the underlying decision was made. We have no privileged access to government information about Papua New Guinea. View the official Home Affairs cap-status page.

Understanding Papua New Guinea's Work and Holiday visa cap

The annual cap limits how many first Work and Holiday subclass 462 visas may be granted to Papua New Guinean passport holders in a program year. Second and third Work and Holiday visas are not counted against it in the same way.

A PAUSED status means new applications from Papua New Guinean passport holders are temporarily unavailable.

A paused cap may return to OPEN in the same program year. A CLOSED cap will not reopen until caps reset on 1 July.

VisaCapAlert reports the published status only. Being Australia’s nearest neighbour confers no special access β€” we read the same public page you can.

Why create a Papua New Guinea cap alert?

Papua New Guinea shares a time zone with much of eastern Australia, so a change published in Canberra appears on the page during your own working day. The practical problem is still the same one: nobody says in advance which day that will be.

VisaCapAlert checks Papua New Guinea's published status every minute and emails you when we detect it has changed.

An alert does not reserve a place, submit anything, or affect a visa decision. It gives you prompt notice of a published change.

  • VisaCapAlert does not reserve or hold a visa place.
  • VisaCapAlert does not submit your application.
  • VisaCapAlert does not assess your eligibility.
  • VisaCapAlert does not provide migration advice.
  • VisaCapAlert does not guarantee a visa outcome.

Papua New Guinea cap alerts β€” frequently asked questions

What is Papua New Guinea's annual Work and Holiday visa cap?

Papua New Guinea has an annual limit on the number of first Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visas Australia may grant to Papua New Guinean passport holders. The current published figure is shown in the cap status panel on this page, taken directly from the official Department of Home Affairs country-cap page so it stays correct if the official figure changes.

What does PAUSED mean for Papua New Guinean applicants?

PAUSED means new applications from Papua New Guinean passport holders are temporarily unavailable. A paused cap may return to OPEN later in the same program year, though that is not guaranteed. We monitor the published status and notify you when we detect that it has changed.

Will VisaCapAlert notify me when Papua New Guinea reopens?

We check Papua New Guinea's published cap status every minute and email your confirmed address as soon as we detect that the status has changed. After payment you can also add and verify a phone number for an optional WhatsApp message. What we cannot do is tell you in advance whether or when Papua New Guinea will reopen β€” that is decided by the official process and we learn of it when it is published.

What happens if Papua New Guinea changes to CLOSED?

A CLOSED status means the cap will not reopen during the current program year. If Papua New Guinea changes to CLOSED while your alert is active, we notify you of that status change too β€” knowing where you stand is the point of the alert. Cap statuses reset for the new program year on 1 July.

What if Papua New Guinea does not reopen at all?

That is a real possibility and we will not pretend otherwise: a paused cap may stay paused, or close. Your alert stays active for the monitoring period you paid for and notifies you if and when the published status changes. Because monitoring begins the moment you pay, the payment is not refundable on the basis that the status never changed β€” if you are unsure, that is worth weighing before you buy.

Can I pay in Papua New Guinean kina?

Yes. The Papua New Guinea alert is priced in kina and charged by card β€” the amount shown on the page is the amount charged, with no currency conversion on our side. Kina is not universally supported by every card issuer; if your card declines it, a card that supports international charges is the way through, and your bank can confirm what it accepts.

Will an alert arrive if I have intermittent internet access?

The email is sent once, when we detect the change, and then waits in your inbox β€” so patchy connectivity delays when you read it rather than whether you receive it. Adding a verified phone number after payment gives you a WhatsApp message as well, which is often the more reliable of the two on mobile data.

Do you use "PNG" anywhere I should search for?

We use the full name, Papua New Guinea, throughout β€” including on the official Home Affairs status page, where the country is listed by its full name. If you have searched for "PNG working holiday cap" and landed here, this is the right page.

How much does it cost?

Premium monitoring for this country is K14.10 as a single one-time payment, or K6.30 each month. Both cover the same service and run until 30 June 2027 AEST, and the amount is confirmed before you pay.

What happens after I sign up?

You confirm your email with a code and complete payment β€” a one-time K14.10, or the monthly option at K6.30 a month β€” and your alert is active straight away. After payment you can also add a phone number to be notified by WhatsApp. We then watch your selected country's cap and notify you when its published status changes.

How do the two payment options differ?

Only in how you pay β€” the service is identical. One-time is a single K14.10 payment with no recurring charges β€” K42.60 off the K56.70 full price. Monthly is K6.30/mo while the alert is active, ending automatically on 30 June 2027 AEST.

Both options include every-minute checks, email alerts and optional WhatsApp notifications, and both stay active until 30 June 2027 AEST.

You can cancel the monthly option anytime at visacapalert.com/cancel-subscription/; no future payments are processed after cancellation, months already charged aren't refunded, and monitoring stops at that point. If a monthly payment fails, you have 7 days to update your card before the alert is cancelled.

On 1 July AEST, visa cap statuses reset, so you'll need to register again to keep tracking a country in the new cap period.
